That said, our domes are constructed with materials that offer maximum resistance to salt air. Our dome structures are made with rust- and corrosion-resistant galvanized steel or aluminum alloy components, making them highly resistant to salt. The exterior cladding is a PVC-coated marine-grade vinyl that seals out salt air intrusion.
Yes, domes are suitable for tropical climates. We recommend the thermal insulation solution, which consists of an insulation layer of aluminum foil and canvas, and the PVC fabric has an anti-UV surface finish. This insulation layer serves two purposes: interior decoration and thermal insulation. Especially when you have air conditioning, it's important to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. To avoid mold problems, active ventilation is vital, with air conditioning and a solar fan extractor that allows you to extract all the hot air that accumulates at the top of the dome. The dome is completely airtight, with no heat transfer thanks to the protective barriers that also keep out moisture and insects.
Yes, the dome is perfect for the climate at those altitudes. The PVC-coated marine-grade vinyl exterior coating tightly seals the interior of your dome, protecting it from the elements. The interior insulation kit helps maintain a constant temperature inside the dome. Know the temperatures at your location best, so you should consider whether you need a heater at night or air conditioning during the day, but we think you could do without air conditioning at those altitudes.
We do not currently build the foundation on which the dome sits. Since only a flat area is needed to support the floor and your dome is very lightweight compared to traditional construction, a qualified architect, engineer, or contractor can easily design and build the platform or floor structure. In the future, we may offer platform construction, but we do not currently do so.
Your dome can be built on a concrete floor or a wooden platform. A concrete floor will be more economical than a wooden platform. Although more expensive, we prefer to place domes on raised platforms, as any structure raised off the ground allows air circulation underneath, helping to keep the structure drier.
We don't currently offer full installation services, but we can provide an experienced dome installation consultant who can guide your local team through the dome installation. You'll need to cover a small fee for the consultant's time and travel expenses.

We consider the dome a permanent structure, but there are some aspects that differentiate it from a traditional permanent structure. Since the geodesic dome is considered one of the strongest structures known to man, its skeletal structure and roof can be made with minimal materials. Instead of having thick walls to support the weight of a traditional heavy roof, the dome combines the walls and roof structure into a single, lightweight geodesic frame. This geodesic frame is covered with a lightweight PVC-coated vinyl fabric roof.
Yes, our domes come with a 1-year factory warranty that covers material defects.
Although the dome's exterior is constructed of durable marine-grade PVC fabric, there is a slight risk of someone cutting it to gain entry. We recommend placing your dome in a secure area where the possibility of malicious action is minimal.
Your dome can be serviced with electricity and plumbing like a traditional home.
Depending on the size of the dome, there are additional accessories for the domes and depending on the size, they can add accessories such as: solar extractors, curtains, windows, etc.
We need to work out some logistical details and additional costs, but we should be able to put a truck on the ferry in Almirante and deliver the domes to Isla Colón. It would be safer and better if the dome shipping packages were unloaded and loaded as few times as possible before arriving at your site.
This depends on the number of domes and the sizes you purchase. To give you an example, we sold a 6-meter diameter dome with accessories (door, windows, solar vent hood, insulation, and curtains) to a customer in Honduras. Shipping to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, for an estimated total of 4 cubic meters (400 cubic feet), 1,000 kilograms (2,800 lb), was $950.
